Abstract


This study aims to determine the utilization levels of computer and internet technolo- gies, becoming widespread day by day, in education which is one of the primary investment areas. The studies and projects of the Ministry of National Education on the computer- assisted education in classrooms, learning in electronic environments, having a computer in each classroom and electronic classrooms requires the teacher training institutions to be in the centre of this process. Making the students of the Faculty of Education be able to use these technologies at the desired level is essential for the harmony between the informatics and communication technologies of future generation and the teachers in classroom. Establishing positive and desired computer-using consciousness in primary and school students is closely related with training prospective teachers as well-informed and equipped enough in this field. Providing teachers with these features would make the future teachers more efficient in edu- cation in terms of using materials and informatics technologies.

 

Despite the increasing use of computer and internet technologies, it is well known that many teachers and students can not utilize these technological opportunities at the desired level.

 

In this study consisted of one theoretical and one applied two parts, the utilization level of computer systems of the students at Erzincan Education Faculty, Primary Education Department was evaluated. Whether teachers have acquired the tendency to use computer and internet technologies for educational purposes was also analyzed.
